The Borsa Bella Go Bag

Written by Melissa

I've had the idea for this bag ever since I first saw my friend Amy trying to stuff her checkbook into one of my Large Gadget Bags! Laughing  She doesn't usually carry a purse, and the Gadget Bag was the perfect size for her...almost.  It just needed to be a teeeny bit longer to accommodate a checkbook.  I've had a few other bags to design in between (Kindle DX Bags and Hobo Bags, just to name a couple), but I decided a few weeks ago to get "GO"ing on this oneWink.

Borsa Bella Go BagThe Borsa Bella Go Bag is just the right size for your necessities (in my world that's an iPhone and a credit card), plus a little more.  Maybe a checkbook, your sunglasses, or a camera...the bag measures 8.25" long by 6.25" tall.  The zipper pocket extends across the length of the bag, plenty of room there for multiple pieces of plastic!  Its currently available in the store in six fabrics, and custom orders are welcome as well!

Logo Design

Written by Melissa
img_0329 customI have a lot of people ask me about my logo and where it came from.  Well, a man by the name of Chester Ferrell designed it for me.  He is an amazing artist, teacher, father and I would have to add comedian to that as well.  I first met Chester when he became Jonah's 1st grade teacher.  Chester still remains my son's favorite teacher of all time...and I doubt it will ever change.  He is so animated and would come up with fun and exciting ways to teach.  As a parent it would not suprise me to walk into his class to help and find him dressed up in a 'Zero the Hero' costume.  During Parent Nights when the kids would perform some kind of musical performance, I would find Mr. Ferrell completely dressed up as Elvis Presily (voice and all) leading the 1st graders in a dance and musical performance of Blue Swede Shoes.  His first love (outside his family of 5) is art!  Once at the  public library with the boys, Jonah comes up to me with an Art Book and started telling me the names of all of his favorite impressionistic artists and showing me their work.  My mouth dropped and we sat for an hour talking about this book and art.  To this day, Jonah loves art!  He also drew a self-portrait of Jonah and I to say thank you for helping in his classroom.  Jonah thought he traced it, it was so good. If you would like to see some of Chester's art work or contact him you can find him here. If you ever get the chance to work with him...enjoy!

First Day Of School

Written by Melissa
My boys had their first day of school last week.  Jonah is in 4th grade and Tyler just started Kindergarten.  I miss Tyler during the day when he is gone, he has always been my little tag-a-long.  He is so ready for school though.  I can't seem to keep him busy enough.  On the first day he whispered to me, "you can leave anytime now".  Once the day started the teacher got all the kids in a circle on the floor and Tyler kept pointing to the door and mouthing "leave"...so I left. :(  I was so excited to get the report at the end of the day.  HE LOVED IT!!!  jonah 1st day 4th grade-0395 customJonah also had a great first day of school.  All his good friends are in his class.  He also gets to eat in the cafeteria everyday!  What 4th grader wouldn't love that?

So long Geisha, nice sewing ya!

Written by Melissa

Well I've come to the end of the bolt of one of my long-time fabric friends, Geisha.  I've used this fabric on almost every style of bag that I've made at one time or another.  Now I'm at  the end of my supply and the manufacturer has discontinued it.  If you've ever yearned for this fabric, now is the time!  I've got enough to make a few gadget bags, and I've got a couple of Let's Do Lunch left.  Type "geisha" into the search bar at the top of this page to see what I've got!

Washing Instructions

Written by Melissa

sandra smalllysandra bagI was reading on Kindleboards last night and noticed someone had their Kindle in their Borsa Bella bag and placed it under their car seat where it was wet.  They wanted to know how to wash it.  You can machine wash all my bags, with mild detergent and hang to dry.  It's okay to use a hot iron on the cotton prints.  I also wanted to add that I am pretty quick at replying to emails.  The majority of the time it will be within an hour or two.  I am always checking my email, after all it's my outside contact with other big people. :) My boys start back to school next week.  My youngest is going to Kindergarten...:(  I am going to miss my little tag-a-long.   Hopefully, I'll get lots of orders next week so I can be distracted and not teary all day. :)

I have received some more great photos of other Kindles in their Travel Bags.  The blue one with a tan, title wave Oberon is from Lysandra. She sent me her own fabric and I think it compliments the Oberon cover perfectly.  Sandra sent me this second picture of a brighter blue Travel Bag that is a Batik fabric I had in my fabric stash.  (I think I have enough for one more if anyone is interested.)  I think her Kindle skin matches it perfectly.  I think the Celtic design on the Oberon looks cool.  I love seeing your Kindle pictures so please keep sending them.

Travel Bag Sling PURSE

Written by Melissa

hobobag-1I have had so many customers tell me how much they love the versatility of the Travel Bag.  I have been selling quite a few of them to customers that want them as a purse.  I love this picture my sister took of one of my Travel Bags in the Twilight Fabric.  I carried mine around Disneyland last Spring and it worked wonderfully as a purse.

For those of you that live in Wenatchee, the Mommy and Me store at the East Wenatchee Mall is having a Grand Opening this Saturday the 15th.  She will be giving away lots of fun things.  I was just in yesterday and it's so cute inside.  She is carrying my Diaper Bags and Diaper Wristlets.

Wenatchee is getting rain today...I am so excited. :)

Fishing with the Boys

Written by Melissa

We went to a lake about an hour away from Wenatchee and went bass fishing.  Guess who caught the largest small mouth bass I have ever seen?  My 5 year old fisherman, Tyler.  I have it all on video too.  He was hooping and hollering like most grown fisherman do when a fish is on. :)  The cutest thing is when he called his Booma (my mom) she asked how much it weighed and he said, "...30 pounds"!  My husband was so proud...a great fisherman in the making.

The new DX bag is just needing some minor tweaks and then it will be ready to purchase.  Sign up for my newsletter and you'll be the first to know when it's available.
